Botox For Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Is It For You?

Posted by on Dec 28, 2017 in Botox | Comments Off on Botox For Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Is It For You?

If you’ve tried every anti-wrinkle cream in the department store to limited results, there is a better way. If you find yourself squinting at your fine lines and wrinkles in the mirror, it might be time to discover Botox injections. Creams and lotions may only work on the surface of the skin, which may be the reason you are not seeing the results you had hoped. Botox works differently; the injections temporarily lessen the muscle activity in the face. Wrinkles can develop from a number of ways. Every time we squint, smile, or furrow our brows these muscles contract, and over the years, they eventually show up as fine lines. Botox reduces the appearance of these fine lines by humbling those muscles from contracting. There are also other ways our skin changes as we age. Less collagen is produced with age, and environmental factors like sun exposure can change the skin too. Botox is an approved treatment for wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is the number one selling cosmetic product of its kind in the world. Botox injections contain very small amounts of purified botulinum toxin protein refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum.  Botox is a safe, high-regulated treatment performed by your plastic surgeon specialist. Botox has been vastly studied and is widely used around the globe. The safety of the Botox procedure has been tested in hundreds of studies. More good news: the Botox procedure is simple! Your doctor will perform a facial analysis for you, and treatment will be discussed. The area to be injected is often numbed with ice or a topical cream, so not to worry about any major discomfort. The injection process takes around ten minutes, and you may see results starting in a day or two. Once you leave your doctor’s office, you will be able to continue the rest of your day without limitation. You will still look like yourself: Just a more beautiful you! Botox is a quick, simple procedure that can have tremendous results. If nothing else has targeted those crows feet or laugh lines to your satisfaction, Botox may be the perfect fix. Choosing Botox For Excessive Underarm Sweat

Posted by on Nov 2, 2017 in Botox | Comments Off on Choosing Botox For Excessive Underarm Sweat

Do you find yourself sweating through your shirt despite using clinical-strength antiperspirant each day? Then you suffer from hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating. Everyone sweats from their underarms as their body’s way of cooling itself. It is healthy and natural, but when you produce too much sweat, it goes from healthy to life-impeding. While many will consult doctors for the issue and find treatment that works, for some, the best treatment can actually be Botox. Most people think of Botox for its uses in treating fine lines and wrinkles, but when injected in the underarms, it can have the benefit of limited the amount that you sweat. When treating fine lines, Botox works by paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles to appear in the skin. However, when used to prevent sweating, it actually blocks the secretion of acetylcholine, the chemical which causes sweating. Those with hyperhydrosis produce an excess of this chemical and since when it is around you will continue to sweat until it is depleted, it causes excessive sweating. When treating excessive sweating with Botox, a doctor will inject 50 unites into each underarm which can keep underarms dry for between 3 to 6 months. Unfortunately, if you exercise frequently or endure high periods of stress during this period, the results will diminish quicker. Typically, because your body does need to sweat, Botox injections in the underarms are the last resort treatment. Those who suffer from excessive sweating should try more topical treatments like prescription antiperspirant or sweat proof clothing first. However, if none of those provide relief, then Botox can be the most effective option. If you suffer from excessive sweating, then that is a serious cosmetic problem for your life. While plastic surgeons specialize in Botox for wrinkles and other age-related facial issues, we recognize that it has other great medical uses as well. If you suffer from excessive sweating and have tried other options, contact us today to see if our Botox treatments might be a good fit for...

Study Shows Botox Has Long-Term Benefits For The Skin

Posted by on Aug 9, 2017 in Botox | Comments Off on Study Shows Botox Has Long-Term Benefits For The Skin

For many consecutive years, Botox injections remain one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the United States. For millions of people who want fast results, to make their skin appear more youthful and rejuvenated without needing surgery or recovery time, Botox is the solution. The treatment consists of injecting a bacterial toxin into select facial muscles. Once introduced into the muscles, Botox limits the muscular function by briefly paralyzing them, enabling fine lines and wrinkles to soften, given you smooth and even skin. A study analyzed the benefits of Botox and its effects on maturing skin because unexpected results had occurred in women between the ages of 45 and 60, who use Botox. In youthful skin, there are two proteins produced which contribute to the firmness and flexibility and they are collagen and elastin. Once we reach our 30s and 40s, elastin and collagen production drops off, so our skin loses its youthful integrity. When that happens and paired with repeated facial expressions that wrinkle and stretch the face, it causes the facial skin to droop. How Botox effects mature skin became the focus of the study due to women noticing that after four intervals of Botox injections, their skin’s composition had improved significantly because the elasticity had shown some degree of restoration. During this study, doctors had determined some of the benefits of Botox utilization included treatment results lasted for longer periods of time and improved skin texture. Botox injections seemed to induce elastin and collagen production because of changes witnessed in the structure of the women’s skin. The study showed that the skin that was adjacent to the muscles treated with Botox injections appeared to regain some elasticity and pliability like that seen in youthful skin. This effect is not completely understood or explainable. However, this outcome is evidently temporary and not caused by swelling or muscle contraction as a result of the injections because this change occurs within the structure of the skin, itself. This unexplained effect was found to endure as long as the potency of one treatment of Botox injections which lasts three to four months. There is a need for more research on this subject to understand the reason that skin takes on the appearance of youthful skin due to Botox injections.
